The Community United Methodist Church (CUMC) is warmly inviting neighbors, friends and families to kick off the holiday season at “Cocoa and Carols,” a festive gathering filled with music, treats and Christmas cheer.
The celebration will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. at the church, located at 434 Lewis St.
Guests will enjoy singing along to their favorite Christmas carols, both beloved sacred hymns and classic secular hits, led by members of the church community.
The talented Sarah Reihm, minister of music at CUMC, will be playing the piano. Reihm has a wonderful lineup of songs prepared and will also be taking requests.
Warm cocoa and delicious holiday treats will be available.
Adding to the fun, attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their most festive holiday attire for a Christmas costume contest, with a prize awarded to the person wearing the most delightfully spirited outfit. There will also be arts and crafts for the kids (and adults).
“Cocoa and Carols is one of our favorite ways to bring the community together,” the Rev. Ken Daniell shared. “It’s a joyful, relaxing way to celebrate the season with friends old and new.”
This event is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season, and you don’t have to be religious or a member of the church to join in the fun. We hope that you will check us out and consider being a part of our community. Bring your family, bring a friend and bring your holiday spirit.
All are welcome at CUMC. We are an inclusive faith community who affirms all, and believes everyone is beloved and belongs. We are deeply committed to serving the community through acts of grace, mercy and mission. Our mission is to provide an inclusive environment where all may develop a personal relationship with God through the unconditional love of Christ.
