During a regular meeting held by the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) on Tuesday, April 7, the BoCC unanimously approved a contract with Strohecker Asphalt to pave Pines Drive, along with a consideration to pave the remaining portion of Cloman Boulevard.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the county received two bids for the Pines Drive project. The bid from Strohecker Asphalt came in at $502,808.80, and the other bid totaled at $571,994.

According to documents included with the agenda, the engineer’s estimate for the Pines Drive project totaled at $552,457.

Public Works Director Mike Torres then explained that the county has received a donation to pave the parking lot at Cloman Park.

According to the meeting’s agenda, “In an effort to protect the newly paved parking lot” Torres is requesting to pave the remaining .3 mile section of Cloman Boulevard.

“There may be additional cost savings since the contractor will be close to the suggested site,” the agenda notes.
