You have a dream — you want to open a business. You had a dream, and you now have a business. Are you where you want to be? Do you want to grow your business? Do you want to sell your business? Do you need capital to start or grow your business? You’re working hard; how do you work smarter, not harder?
These are all topics that will be covered at the Building Business Excellence Conference on Tuesday, April 29, at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse.
Over the afternoon, guest speaker Dale Wilsher and other impactful presenters will challenge, guide and give suggestions on how you can have a more successful business and be a more successful leader at the helm of that dream or business. This conference was designed to be just a half day so that business leaders or dreamers could fit it into their busy schedules.
The day will kick off at 1 p.m. with the keynote speaker, Wilsher.
Wilsher is an executive coach and personal development expert who helps individuals and organizations turn their purpose into full potential. She is an author, a faculty member for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management and a multi-accredited professional certified coach.
Her dynamic style will engage audience members to dig deeper and find their values, untapped strengths and purpose.
Her keynote will be “Finding Success Through Your Purpose.” She will focus on the why of what you do in order to be a better leader.
Wilsher uses engaging stories, humor and practical strategies. She will help you learn how to use your passion to find motivation and strategic direction, clarify your purpose, and how to tap your potential.
She will also lead one of the breakout sessions, “Creating the Confidence to Rise.” Not everyone is a natural leader, but confidence can be developed to form a stronger leader. She will focus on boosting your confidence as a leader through your unique contribution, cognition and communication. She will explore strategies to overcome self-doubt, combat negative self-talk and reframe limiting beliefs. How does your body language affect your confidence? How can you learn self-affirmation techniques to enhance your performance?
Wilsher will also provide take-home tools for you to continue to work on what she has spoken on.
Two of the other break-out sessions will focus on financial aspects of the business.
First Southwest Bank Chief Development Officer Sherry Waner has seen just about every type of business plan and worked with just about every type of business owner. She will be accompanied by Rosy McDonough, who is the executive director for the First Southwest Community Fund. They will give you tips on business plans, what financial institutions look for when funding a business, and some financial lending options out there. Many businesses want to start out with a grant, but those grants are few and far between. But, what is out there and how do you go about getting funding to start or expand your business.
Terryl Peterson, owner of CFO Services, is a financial consultant and chief financial officer with 30 years of helping companies and individuals through their financial questions and quagmires. She will be speaking on how to value your time, services or business, whether it be retail, professional services, food services and nonprofit services. Peterson’s goal is to provide business owners education and to encourage the use of financial information for business decision making. Her style is to take the fear out of finances and put it in simpler terms. This is why she is one of the most sought-after financial consultants in the region.
One more breakout that will occur is “How to Work Smarter not Harder with Technology.” This is one hot topic these days. We hear a lot about using AI and social media scheduling tools. But some of these tools are scary. Ava Carter, owner of Design Breakfast, will help you try and take the scary out of using technology. There are a lot of products out there. How can AI help you and save time? Social media is often difficult to manage, especially if you’re a one-man band. She will help show you a variety of tools that might make this process much easier and more effective. What about AI? There is lots of buzz about this technology. Find out how you can use it to generate ideas, write articles, create summaries, etc. You’d be surprised how this tool could make your life much easier.
Annie Sewell, owner of Right Molecule IV Hydration Lounge will also be in attendance to speak about online scheduling software. Could your business benefit from online scheduling instead of missing phone calls and potential appointments? This is really an exciting session, especially for people who may not be tech savvy and need a push to get started. It will also be interactive, with attendees sharing some of their success tools.
The caliber of speakers at this conference packed into this short period of time is a value that you won’t get again soon.
The cost to attend is only $35 for Chamber members and $45 for nonmembers. This price includes all the educational content, as well as a networking reception at the end of the day and a beverage ticket.
In order to hit all of the breakout sessions, bring a couple of people from your business and take advantage of all the information that will be presented. The Chamber is able to keep these ticket prices so low thanks to the partners who are participating. They support the educational mission of the Chamber and everyone’s desire to see successful businesses in our community.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, but advance tickets can be purchased at www.pagosachamber.com. Click on the graphic featuring Wilsher. Should you have questions, contact the Chamber at (970) 264-2360.
