The Pagosa Nordic Club hosted the Cabin Fever Nordic Ski races on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Alberta Park Nordic Trails.
A big thank you to the Wolf Creek Ski Area for grooming the race course for the event.
The Cabin Fever event included a competitive 12km freestyle race as part of the SW Nordic Race Series, which also includes races at Grand Mesa, Flagstaff, Chama, Telluride and Durango, with the best of three races being crowned king and queen of the SW Nordic Race Series.
The event also included a citizens 3 km race and a KidK race. 45 racers participated with the following race leaders:
• Men’s 12 km: first place Brett Wilson (Durango), second Brendon Trimboli (Durango), third Daniel Murray (Durango).
• Women’s 12 km: first place Laura Spector (Durango), second Mila Moseley (Los Alamos), third Jennifer Amstadter (Durango).
• Men’s 3 km: first place Archer Nicovich (Durango), second Quanah Moseley (Los Alamos), third Topher Horning (Telluride).
• Women’s 3 km: first place Jia Bock (Los Alamos), second Janelle Dinger (Durango), third Ellie Bruckbauer (Durango).
• KidK: Juniper and Yarrow Wilson (Durango) were both winners.
Red Ryder BB Gun
The Pagosa Nordic Red Ryder BB Gun Biathlon Race is this Saturday, Jan. 17, in Alberta Park at Wolf Creek Ski Area. Races will include a competitive 12 km race (10 a.m.), citizens/youth 3 km race (11 a.m.) and a KidK race (11:30 a.m.).
Racers use provided Red Ryder BB Guns to shoot at targets between race laps.
Race information and registration is available at PagosaNordic.com, under the events tab. Starting at 8:30 a.m. at the far east end of the Tranquility parking lot at the Wolf Creek Ski Area, racers can also register and pick up their race bibs.
Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the best. Bring your skate skis or classic cross-country skis and participate in the excitement.
