Booklist Reader is the Ruby Sisson library’s latest free magazine, featuring diverse readers’ advisory recommendations, in print and on audio, for readers of all ages.
Each month, the Booklist Reader is filled with high-interest lists that showcase books patrons can read and check out now. Available online or as a print publication you can take home and keep, Booklist Reader is your latest tool in finding the next great read.
To get started, simply go to the library’s website at www.pagoslibrary.org and choose Reading Recommendations under Quick Links. You’ll see Booklist Reader at the top of the list. No username or password is necessary.
Fifty print copies per month of Booklist Reader will be available at the library free of charge starting Nov. 1. Be sure to pick one up on your next visit.

Don’t forget, your library card gives you access to the daily edition of the New York Times through our digital library.
Construction update
Despite all the rain, we’re only three days behind schedule on our building project. This week our steel arrives, and soon we will have a shell of our new addition and the whole project will begin to come to life right before our eyes.
Remember, we are open regular hours throughout the construction. Park in the parking lot to the west of us and follow the path through the garden. We hope to see you soon.
Activity locations
Now that we have much less space for our operations and no meeting rooms during construction, several of our regular activities and special events are happening in other locations.
Please check the listings in this column and on your library’s website, https://pagosalibrary.org, for location changes throughout the construction. If no other location is mentioned, the activity will stay at your library.
Activities calendars
Pick up monthly calendars at the library so you don’t miss any of the free programs, events and activities available to you and your family.

Ruby’s Book Club will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 to discuss “Astor: The Rise and Fall of an American Fortune” by Anderson Cooper. Copies are available at your library.
This free book club for adults is held the second Tuesday of each month, alternating between fiction and nonfiction titles. Anyone is welcome to attend.
During construction, it is taking place at the new Harman Park Transit Center, 83 Harman Park Drive, next to the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office.

Elementary school tutoring
Free after-school tutoring for kids in first through third grade takes place on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration is required because of limited space, so call your library now at (970) 264-2209 to enroll your child.
This invaluable tutoring involves one-on-one and small-group help for math, literacy, writing and spelling.
Note that because of construction at the library these sessions will take place at the elementary school.
