Blood drive set for June 24

Posted

We are amazed at the constant innovations in the medical and scientific world of today. Procedures and products available to us were not even dreamed of just a few years ago.

But, man cannot create blood, necessary for life and well-being.

What man, and woman, can do is donate blood to be available for others whose very lives may depend on that donation.

Donations are utilized during heart surgery, organ transplants and emergency surgery.

Blood donations help cancer patients whose cancer and treatment may prevent the formation of platelets vital for survival.

Sickle cell and aplastic anemia patients may require multiple transfusions every year.

Burn victims typically lose considerable amounts of blood, and plasma donations can replenish fluid volume and avoid further complications.

Please join us for the Vitalant blood drive to be held Wednesday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse, located at 230 Port Ave.

We are calling this the Pagosa Springs uptown drive, and it is replacing the drive formerly held at Centerpoint Church.

We welcome everyone to join us for this important event as we head into the busy summer season.

You may make an appointment at Vitalant.org, by calling Vitalant at (877) 258-4825, or by contacting volunteer Sharee Grazda at (970) 946–2760.

Many thanks to you for considering and hopefully joining in this important effort.
