San Juan Back Country Horsemen (SJBCH) invites you to join its August meeting on Monday, Aug. 18.

SJBCH’s philosophy and purpose are:

  • To perpetuate the common-sense use and enjoyment of horses in America’s backcountry and wilderness.
  • To work to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use. To assist the various government, state and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
  • To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the use of backcountry resources by stock users and the general public commensurate with our heritage.
  • To foster and encourage the formation of new state organizations and Back Country Horsemen of America.

For the monthly meeting, doors at the Archuleta County CSU Extension office open at 6:30 p.m. for social time. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

SJBCH is a great group of guys and gals who share the passion of horseback riding in the back country. Their goal is to share their knowledge and skills with the community while protecting our trails for future generations

SJBCH is a chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of America. Check our website at www.sjbch.org, email sjbch@gmail.com or phone Vern Jahnke, president, at 764-5640 for more information.
