Art enthusiasts and community members are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant hues of fall and the talent of participating artists during a captivating plein air retreat and a special gallery reception.

Coming on the heels of the Color Fest hot air balloon rally, this live event in Pagosa Springs brings regional artists for a week of artistic creation, affording the public an exclusive opportunity to engage with the artists and their work.

From Sept. 21-24, a select group of skilled plein air artists will be painting the stunning landscapes of Southwest Colorado, capturing the brilliant fall foliage, majestic mountain peaks and flowing rivers that define the region. Witnessing artists at work in their natural element is a captivating experience, offering insight into their creative process and the connection between nature and art.

The festival will culminate in a public gallery reception on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Two Old Crows gallery. Admission is free.

This reception offers a premier opportunity for the public to meet the artists, discuss their artistic journeys and view the freshly created artwork inspired by the beauty of Pagosa Springs. Artworks will be available for purchase, allowing attendees to take home a piece of the stunning Colorado autumn captured on canvas.

Following the reception, the paintings will be hung at Pagosa Springs Medical Center for a special art wall display through the month of October. All artwork will be available for purchase by directly contacting the artist.

“This plein air retreat celebrates the natural beauty of Pagosa Springs and the exceptional talent of these artists,” said event organizer Lise Neer. “The community has the opportunity to witness the creative process and experience the spirit of the mountains brought to life through art.”

This event offers a unique cultural experience, whether you’re an art collector or appreciate the outdoors. Don’t miss this chance to connect with artists, explore artwork and support the vibrant arts community in Pagosa Springs.
