Special to The PREVIEW
The Silver San Juan Division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) will hold its spring meeting on Saturday, March 29, at the First Presbyterian Church, 843 N. Dustin Ave., Farmington. The meeting will start with a social gathering at 9 a.m. Anyone who loves trains is invited.
The morning program includes presentations by Dennis Krausman, superintendent of the south suburban division on stock cars and scratchbuilding structures. Ray Schmudde will speak on track planning.
A model contest, “My Favorite Structure,” highlights the afternoon session and is open to paid-up division newsletter subscribers ($5 annual division newsletter subscriptions available at the door). Members are encouraged to bring their favorite structure model —completed or not — photos if the structure is mounted on their layout, or even drawings of a planned structure. First place will receive a one-year newsletter subscription extension.
The afternoon will feature “From the Workbench,” where modelers display and discuss their current projects; a favorite train contest, where modelers display their favorite train; and contest award presentations. Judging will be by popular vote. A tour of home layouts fills out the day’s agenda.
Directions to the model railroad layouts that will be open for viewing will be handed out following the meeting.
