The annual Archuleta Health Fair and Expo, held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Pagosa Springs High School, co-hosted by the Archuleta County Public Health Department and Healthy Archuleta, proved to be a resounding success.

It brought together more than 300 residents, health professionals and vendors for a day dedicated to wellness and education in a vibrant atmosphere filled with informative booths, free health screenings, low-cost labs and a farm-to-table lunch.

Attendees were able to explore a wide range of health topics and resources. Participants had access to essential health screenings, including vision, dental exams, breast exams, hearing tests, blood pressure checks and laboratory services — all aimed at empowering individuals to take charge of their health.

Attendees explored a wide range of health topics and resources, and the fair showcased the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in our community.

One of the highlights of the day was the lunch presentation by guest speaker Dr. Julie Buchner, a medical doctor and health care provider. Buchner delivered an enlightening talk on heart health, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early intervention. Her expertise and insights were invaluable, encouraging many to prioritize their cardiovascular wellness.

This event was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of numerous volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their hard work was evident in every aspect of the fair, from setup to coordination of activities. A heartfelt thank you goes out to each volunteer for their commitment and enthusiasm, which played a vital role in the event’s success.

Additionally, we extend our gratitude to the local vendors and community organizations who participated, offering valuable resources and services. The health care organizations that participated shared information and resources with the community to connect them with care. Their presence not only enriched the fair, but also highlighted the importance of collaboration in promoting health and well-being.

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the valuable information and services provided. The fair not only fostered a sense of community, but also empowered individuals to take charge of their health. As we reflect on this successful event, we look forward to next year’s fair, continuing to build a healthier, more informed community together.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making the Archuleta Health Fair and Expo a day to remember.
