The Archuleta County Democrats will hold a food drive/fundraiser and social hour on Nov. 1 on the patio at Uncle’s Social Club from 4 to 6 p.m.
Please come and bring nonperishable food or your checkbook.
The community needs to make up the deficit caused by the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits, commonly known as food stamps.
The need for food for local families exists during the government shutdown. In times when the government is open, many families still come up short at the end of their pay period.
Those of us lucky enough to not worry having enough to eat still recognize that the increased cost of food takes a bite out of budgets. Imagine what it is like for those who were already struggling.
