Archuleta County Assessor’s Office deadline extensions announced

Posted

At the Tuesday, June 17,  regular meeting of the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners, Assessor Johanna Tully-Elliot requested deadline extensions due to the closure of the 449 San Juan St. building offices and the accompanying time constraints a temporary relocation has caused.

Elliot stated she contacted the Department of Taxation for guidance on the proper protocol for this event, noting the state has no existing statute or procedure as a guideline.

Commissioners Veronica Medina, John Ranson and Warren Brown unanimously approved the following deadline extensions for 2025:

  • Personal property mailing of notice of value — old deadline: June 16; new deadline: June 23.
  • Personal property protest deadline — old deadline: June 30, new deadline: July 7.
  • Personal property deadline for notice of determinations — old deadline: July 10, new deadline: July 17.
  • Personal property deadline for filing with County Board of Equalization (CBOE) appeal — old deadline: July 21, new deadline: July 28.
  • Notice of determinations for real property — old deadline: June 30, new deadline: July 7.
  • CBOE appeals and assessor report, total assessed value to the CBOE — old deadline: July 15, new deadline: July 22.
  • CBOE hearings scheduled to originally end Aug. 5, extended to Aug. 12.
  • Abstract of assessment to the schools and local governments — deadline Aug. 25, no extension needed.

Tully further added that all deadlines will be on track and no further extensions are requested.

While the assessor’s office is now fully functioning out of remote locations, the 449 San Juan St. building remains closed to all personnel and the public. Staff will be available by phone but cannot accept in-person visits at this time.
