Village at Wolf Creek granted road access in new ruling

On Friday, April 19, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circut ruled that the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is required to provide access to a 300-acre parcel on Wolf Creek Pass that is owned by Leavell-McCombs Joint Venture (LMJV) — the site of the proposed Village at Wolf Creek.

Middle school announces third-quarter honor roll

The following Pagosa Springs Middle School fifth-grade students made the A honor roll with a 4.0 GPA: Jacob Adams, Grant Bliss, Wynnona Buchner, Wyatt Buck, Kainoa Landry, Sage Merrill-Exton, Kiara Patel, Delilah Powell, Hannah Richards, Rystle Ross, Samuel Sanchez, Riley Sanders, Tyson Sewell and Maheyla Witting.

PAWSD finds no violations of Running Iron Ranch lease

In an April 24 interview with The SUN, Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) District Engineer/Manager Justin Ramsey explained that an inquiry into the compliance of the Weber family with its lease on Running Iron Ranch resulted in the district finding no violations of the lease.

Rita M. Werner, 81, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., was called home by our Lord on Feb. 23, 2024, in Midland, Texas. The memorial service for Rita Werner will be held May 8, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 56 Meadows Drive, Pagosa Springs, Colo.
Carol Ann White
Carol Ann Neville White passed quietly into God’s nearer presence in her Pagosa Springs residence on April 8, 2024, at the age of 84 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Aug. 10, 1939.
Bobbie Joy Day Smith
Born in Hamlin, Texas, in 1935. She married her childhood sweetheart, Glenn, in 1952. She was the first in her family to receive Christ as her savior. Joy went on to convert her husband, Glenn, who then became a minister, and she then served as a minister’s wife for 48 years and helped Glenn to start several new churches in many states.

Pirates log PRs, break school records at pair of meets

Lady Pirate Rylie Carr works to set a new school record in the 200-meter dash at the Ron Keller Invitational on Saturday, April 20. Carr beat her own record, logging a time of 26.12 seconds.

The Pagosa Springs High School Pirate track and field teams took part in two meets in four days, with multiple school records being set at the second meet and a number of Pirates setting new personal records (PRs).

Lady Pirates lose one, draw one in league games, defeat Durango

The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirate soccer team notched one loss, one win and one draw over the week, falling in a league match against Alamosa in Alamosa on April 19, winning a home game against the Durango junior varsity on April 20 and tying in a home league game against Bayfield on April 23.
