The Pagosa Springs High School Pirate track and field teams took part in two meets in four days, with multiple school records being set at the second meet and a number of Pirates setting new personal records (PRs).

Bayfield Invitational #2

On Wednesday, April 17, the Pirate teams were in action at the Bayfield Invitational #2.

“Colton Lucero is having a great year in sprints and jumps,” O’Donnell highlights. “He ran a PR in the 100 in Bayfield. His start out of blocks is fast and he helps our relays to keep getting faster.”

Up next

This week, the Pirate teams will take part in the Intermountain League (IML) meet in Alamosa.

“The good news is that we only have one meet this week,” Connie O’Donnell wrote.

The coach notes that winning events at the IML meet is the only way to earn all-conference honors.

“We are planning on running a loaded sprint medley and changing up the girls sprint relays just a bit to see what happens,” she wrote of the teams’ plans for the meet.

Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
