Maggie Carpenter Chavez, born on Nov. 19, 1938, left our family and friends on April 29, 2024.
Maggie lived in Pagosa Springs, where she met the love of her life, Fred Chavez, and they were married for 66 wonderful years together and raised four children.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard (Pappo) and Mary (Mommo) Carpenter; three brothers, Billy, Arkie and Tommy Carpenter; and two grandchildren, Christoper and Ryan Sanner; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Chavez; her children, Patricia (Kelly) Sanner, Ronald (MJ) Chavez, Cynthia (John) Hawxby and Melvin (Lori) Chavez; her three brothers, Hank (Sylvia) Carpenter, Jimmy (Grace) Carpenter and Onis Carpenter; her two sisters, Betty Shahan and Nora (Neil) Smith; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Maggie will be announced at a later day.
