The San Juan Basin Health Department, with endorsement from the Celebrating Healthy Communities Coalition in Pagosa Springs, proudly awards the Healthy Event Seal of Approval to Retro Metro Kids, the Archuleta School District’s Safe Routes to School Program, for its Bike Rodeo and Barbecue.

This community-wide event is to celebrate Retro Metro Kids’ one-year anniversary in conjunction with Walk to School Day.

Retro Metro Kids is a group of young people in Pagosa Springs who work to create Safe Routes to School for all Archuleta School District students and to have fun walking, riding, running and just being kids.

The annual Walk to School Day kicked off on Oct. 7 by youngsters and their parents gathering at Yamaguchi Park to walk to Pagosa Springs Elementary School. This walking route was made safe because of the Piedra Street paving and a sidewalk project recently completed by the Town of Pagosa Springs.
