Marvin Robert Carpenter

Marvin Robert Carpenter died on July 11 while recovering from surgery. He was 84 years old.

Marvin was born in Durango, Colo., on May 2, 1939, the oldest of four boys.

Marvin served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964 and received a Letter of Accommodation for service performed at President Kennedy’s funeral. Marvin then worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory until he retired in 2000. He was an Elks life member as well as a Legion member. Marvin was an excellent golfer and an avid fly fisherman.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Carpenter; his son, Patrick Carpenter; and his brothers, Mason and Van Carpenter. 

Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Medray Carpenter, and his parents, Junior Iden Carpenter and Alta Louise Carpenter.

His remains will be interred in the Carpenter family plot in Mancos, Colo.
