Evelyn Arline (Bostrom) Hubbard

In loving memory of Evelyn Arline (Bostrom) Hubbard.

1939-Sept. 17, 2023

Long-time resident of Pagosa Springs, our beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Evelyn, affectionately known as “Ev or Evie” passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

Evelyn Arline Bostrom Hubbard was born in 1939 to John Bostrom and Eleanor (Knutson) Bostrom in San Francisco, Calif., and graduated from Sequoia High School. Evelyn dedicated her life to Jehovah God on Feb. 1, 1953.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” T. Hubbard; her parents, John and Eleanor Bostrom; brother John E. Bostrom (spouse/sister-in-law JoAnn); and brother-in-law Borris Golceff.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Donna (Hubbard) Safley (spouse/son-in-law Tom) and Judy (Hubbard) Sanchez, along with six grandchildren, whom she was very proud of: Rachel, Erin, Jennifer, Brandon, Jessica and Michael; and 14 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Last year, she enjoyed a visit in Pagosa Springs by some of her Oregon children and grandchildren. This year, she traveled to California and enjoyed a visit with some of her children and grandchildren. She considered her “step” daughters as “real” daughters.

She is also survived by her sister Mary Baldivid (spouse/brother-in-law Ruben), brother James Bostrom (spouse/sister-in-law Marlene), brother-in-law Fred Hubbard (spouse/sister-in-law Leslie), all whom she loved dearly, along with a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews.

Evelyn was an industrious individual, experienced in sewing, cooking, health education and enjoyed outdoor activities such as traveling, camping, skiing and gardening. She always enjoyed the animals and critters of her surroundings and bringing home mementos to remember her wonderful travels. In her youth, she enjoyed skiing, tennis and bowling. She cherished time spent with her local Pagosa Springs congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, her spiritual family whom she was close to, especially after the passing of her best friend and husband, Bob.

Evelyn’s greatest education came from studies of God’s word. She believed in a future free from sickness and death, in the hope of resurrection on earth as supported by the scriptures (Acts 24:15, Psalm 37:10, 11, 29). She spent a great deal of her life fulfilling the command given by Jesus to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations,” assisting others to come to know their creator, Jehovah God, and his purpose for mankind and the earth. Evelyn looked forward to sharing her future with Bob, continuing their love story and adventures together forever in a new paradise earth.

It was her wish to share her hope with you. (Psalm 37:11, Psalm 128:1,2).

Memorial services will be Oct. 7, 2023, at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 35 Meadows Drive, Pagosa Springs, Colo.

Evelyn’s family, with much love and gratitude, would like to express our deep appreciation for the acts of kindness, thoughts, prayers and expressions of sympathy shown to us during this sorrowful time. Our hope is that this will be but a brief pause until we welcome our loved ones back as promised in God’s word (John 5:28, 29, Job 14:13-15).
