Chimney Rock National Monument’s visitor center and visitor services will close for the season after Sunday, Oct. 15.

All facilities will be closed including the visitor center, restrooms and gift shop.

There will be no trash service available at the site, and no vehicles are permitted past the gate off Colo. 151. Limited parking is available prior to the gate, which is just beyond the roundabout. Visitors are reminded to not block the gate to allow for emergency access to the area.

Foot traffic and nonmotorized bikes are permitted into the site, although we ask visitors to stay on the roads and the trails. E-bikes are prohibited when the monument is closed. Additionally, no dogs are allowed on the archaeological trails on the mesa at any time.

Chimney Rock National Monument is scheduled to reopen mid-May of 2024, as weather conditions allow. Information on the official opening date will be posted on the San Juan National Forest website and Facebook page in the spring.
