The spring cemetery cleanup is scheduled for May 19 through June 2.
Town staff will be at the cemetery raking pine needles; removing broken, spent and faded decorations from plots; mowing; and weed trimming.
The town welcomes all groups or individuals who wish to help with the spring clean-up efforts. Place your cemetery trash and debris at the nearest roadside ditch for pickup. Trash bags are available at the town’s maintenance facility at 550 Pirate Drive.
Other cemetery maintenance includes:
• Removal of T-posts, wood laths, rebar and other marking devices.
• Evaluation and maintenance of cemetery rights of way to include roads, paths and easements for removal of obstructions, grading and gravel.
• Fire prevention assessment to include advisement on tree thinning, limbing and ladder fuels.
• Setting of black posts marking block and lot corners.
