Second annual Health Fair and Expo set for Oct. 19

Posted

The second annual Health Fair and Expo will be held on Oct. 19 at Pagosa Springs High School from about 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is important on so many levels for people in our community. A component of the fair will be the ability to get your blood drawn and have a variety of tests performed at extremely reasonable rates. Regardless if you have insurance or not, you may want to take advantage of this special pricing for a range of tests.

Another facet of the health fair will be the ability to meet with health care providers, find out about insurance options, and receive other services such as hearing tests, STD testing or other exams.

There will also be a lunch with a keynote speaker, which was a hit last year.

Since it is a health fair, one of the important components is to find out more about healthy products, classes or services that can aid you in looking and feeling better.

There will also be a Spanish-speaking component to the Health Fair, so please reach out to our Spanish community.

Small Business
Development Center free consult day

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be at the Chamber of Commerce to provide free, one-hour business consultations.

Mary Shepherd, director of the Southwest SBDC, will be on hand to help you with issues in starting a business, financials, internal concerns such as inventory, production or even exit strategies.

The SBDC has a cadre of professionals to help you with a variety of business issues. Looking to write a business plan? Shepherd can help you get started.

Looking to expand? Shepherd can assist you with what you need in terms of financials, growth plans and, yes, that business plan. Perhaps you’re looking to retire. Shepherd can get you started and set up with a consultant on creating an exit strategy.

There are many more business-related topics that you can discuss during your free, confidential, one-hour session.

To reserve a time slot, visit  www.sbdcfortlewis.org/consulting.  Scroll down to “request an initial appointment” and follow the prompts from there. The Chamber is happy to partner with our Southwest SBDC.
