Search warrant leads to arrest, recovery of stolen property in ongoing burglary and arson investigation

On Friday, April 11,  the Pagosa Springs Police Department executed a search warrant at a local residence in connection with an ongoing investigation into a recent string of burglaries in the community.

During the operation, officers recovered stolen property tied to seven separate burglary cases reported within the town. The recovery marks a significant development in efforts to resolve these incidents and return stolen items to their rightful owners.

One male suspect, 54-year-old Russell Apodaca, a resident of Pagosa Springs, was arrested at the scene. He is currently facing multiple burglary-related charges as well as one count of arson in connection with a recent fire within the town limits.

“This arrest reflects the dedicated investigative work of our officers and our department’s ongoing commitment to keeping our community safe,” said Police Chief William Rockensock. “We are grateful for the support and cooperation of our residents.”

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming as officers continue to review evidence and pursue leads.
