A plane crash-landed around noon in the area of Colo. 151 and Forest Service Road 613 on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
According to a press release from the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), the Archuleta County Combined Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 12:03 p.m. reporting that a light aircraft had crashed.
The ACSO reports the first responding units located the downed aircraft on private property and, upon arrival, it was determined the pilot and passenger “had safely evacuated the wreckage and walked to a nearby residence and called for assistance.”
It adds the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
“The plane had two passengers, one transported for medical assistance,” a press release from the Southern Ute Indian Tribe states.
The ACSO notes the FAA was notified immediately and was provided information for its investigation.
“At this time the cause of the incident is unknown,” the press release states.
Response agencies included the ACSO, Southern Ute Police Department, Southern Ute Rangers, Los Pinos Fire Protection District, Upper Pine Fire Protection District, Pagosa Fire Protection District and Pagosa Springs Medical Center EMS, the ACSO indicates.
