Nathan Ross Bell

Nathan Ross Bell passed away on Oct. 3, 2025, from brain cancer. Nate was born Aug. 5, 1978. He was a resident of Pagosa Springs for eight years and could often be found fishing at a PLPOA lake, pulling a trailer with fishing poles behind his fat tire bike or chatting it up with the locals (or his voices). Nate had a mental illness for much of his life, but as many members of the Pagosa community recognized, he had a kind soul and good heart. He loved meeting new people and would often share stories of “the new friends” he encountered. Nate’s prognosis encouraged us to pursue bucket list items such as: a trip to New Orleans, Arches National Park, fishing as much as possible and eating out any chance we got. Nate taught us all lessons on how to be better people (whether he knew it or not). Our family learned so much from him, including: compassion, empathy, not to judge and to love like Nate. We will never forget him and will miss him terribly.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Truman Bell, and is survived by his mother, Connie Bell, of Pagosa; sister, Jordan Bell, of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Mitch (Erin), and two nieces of Cleburne, Texas. He is also survived by his grandmother and extended family.

Per Nate’s wishes, we will hold a private family celebration based on his DNA results in Ireland.
