As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, it is important to remember that the fight to end domestic violence does not end here.
While raising awareness during October is critical, the real change happens when we, as a community, continue the conversation and support all year-round.
We can keep the momentum going by continuing to educate ourselves and staying informed about the latest resources, policies and support systems for survivors. We can share what we’ve learned with friends, family and colleagues to ensure that the conversation doesn’t stop once the month is over.
Volunteering with Rise Above Violence is another meaningful way to stay involved beyond October. Our volunteer victim advocates provide essential services to survivors. You can apply on our website, www.riseaboveviolence.org/volunteerapplication.
Together, we can rise above violence and create a community where everyone feels safe and empowered.
