Moon party set for July 4

Posted

The Pagosa Sidewalk Astronomers will host a free, educational public event on July 4 — a moon party —before the fireworks.

Look for us in Yamaguchi Park near the pickleball courts starting at 8:30 p.m.

This event will be fun for kids and adults alike. During our interactive, educational program, we’ll cover the size, distance from Earth, phases of the moon and other fun facts.

Enter our drawing to win cool giveaways (including a free private star party). Take pictures of your little ones in our spaceship photo booth.

When it gets a bit darker, everyone is welcome to view the beautiful waxing gibbous moon through our telescopes, including one telescope that you can take a photo through.

We’ll have a moon map on hand to help you identify moon features such as mare, mountains and craters.
