Dear Editor:
Ballots for the LPEA board election will be going out this week. You can also vote online. This letter is in support of Holly Metzler for the District 1 Archuleta County seat.
In short, why would we change the players on the LPEA board when our team is winning? LPEA is a well-run organization. Under Holly’s leadership LPEA exceeded financial health targets including operating margins, cash reserves, and debt to equity objectives.
Holly Metzler does a great job of putting Pagosa first. Pagosa Springs businesses and homeowners are uniquely positioned to benefit from the exit from Tri-State with 300 days of sunshine. Committing to sustainable energy going forward is vital for our local economy, and our health.
Holly advocates for reliability and affordability above all else. LPEA is committed to infrastructure protecting Archuleta County thanks to Holly. This includes line redundancy to the outside world and work towards a new transformer west of town.
Changing the District 1 board member at this time will only bring uncertainty. The adage, “Why change horses in midstream?” really applies to this election. Join me in voting for Holly Metzler for LPEA District 1 board member.
