Letter: After-prom event

Posted

I am writing to express our gratitude and excitement over the tremendous success of the recent After Prom event, Midnight in the Mountains, held in Pagosa Springs — the first of its kind in many years. Thanks to the collaboration of dedicated volunteers, generous local sponsors, and a supportive community, over 100 high school students were able to celebrate safely and memorably after the dance.

This event not only provided a fun, supervised environment for students to continue their celebration, but it also reinforced the values of safety, inclusion, and community spirit. The turnout and enthusiasm demonstrated just how much our youth appreciate having positive alternatives that allow them to enjoy themselves without unnecessary risks. Many of the students also walked away with some amazing prizes that evening, from local gift cards to a Playstation 5 and Wolf Creek lift tickets!

The After Prom was a reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared goal: keeping our kids safe and supported. With this year’s success, we’re hopeful that After Prom will continue as a cherished tradition in Pagosa Springs for years to come!
