Free class on Medicare 2025 and Medicare fraud protection announced

Posted

Come learn about the changes to Medicare for 2025 and the importance of protecting yourself from Medicare fraud.

A certified Medicare State Health Insurance Assistance Program, or SHIP, counselor will be hosting a presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library.

Now is the time for Medicare beneficiaries to think about their health care coverage and make any changes for the year 2025.

The Medicare open-enrollment period is happening now through Dec. 7.

With all the changes to Medicare and prescription drug plans, Medicare beneficiaries are encouraged to review their current plans and make potentially cost-saving changes before Dec. 7.

Additionally, Medicare fraud is an increasingly common occurrence, and Medicare beneficiaries need to know how to protect themselves.

Medicare counseling is provided by the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging. To make a personal appointment, call (970) 264-0501, ext. 2. The Medicare counseling office is in the Pagosa Senior Center at 451 Hot Springs Blvd. Appointments are required.
