Ettore Alosio Jr.

Posted

Ettore was born in Union City, N.J., on Jan. 17, 1932, to Ettore Alosio Sr. and Clara (nee Barsocchi). He was the second generation to be born in the USA, after his grandparents came over from Italy and settled in New Jersey. He was the older brother of Rudolph, who predeceased him in 2007.

Ettore proudly graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his BS in zoology and began working in the pharmaceutical industry. After graduating, Ettore was called to serve in the Army — toward the end of the Korean War — and was stationed in France for about three years. Throughout his life, he loved traveling, but living in France had left such an impression on him that it remained one of his favorite places to visit.

In 1957, Ettore married Carolyn (nee Swartz) and they had three children — Alan, Stephen and Susan. In 1967, Ettore was looking for new opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry and moved his family from New Jersey to California, where they settled in Huntington Beach and raised their three children. During this time, Ettore became very accomplished and well-recognized within the pharmaceutical industry and eventually built a successful business with his business partner, David Rutoulo, and his son, Stephen.

Ettore’s success in business made it possible for him to celebrate his passion for architecture and construction. He wasn’t truly happy unless he could design and build something new.

In 2002, Ettore married Cathy (nee Duguid) and they settled in Coto de Caza, Calif., and eventually moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo. Here, Ettore tried new things — like riding horses. He truly loved spending time playing with his dog Mathias while taking care of daily projects at home.

Ettore is survived by his wife, Cathy; his three children; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family.

Funeral services to be held, for immediate family, at Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier, Calif.
