Where else but in community theater can one find landscapers, teachers, rockhounds, international affairs specialists, musicians and real estate agents pool their talents to produce quality entertainment for their community and its visitors?
Well, in our town, that’s what Curtains Up Pagosa (CUP) is all about, and this weekend they will do so with “Matilda the Musical,” a Roald Dahl story about a young girl who uses her genius and special talents to make life better for those dear to her.
With a cast of 27 young adults and children, coupled with veteran adult actors, this story comes alive through clever dialogue interwoven with powerful music.
“Matilda” will be performed on the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium stage for three evening shows this week at 7 p.m. — Thursday, June 26; Friday, June 27; and Saturday, June 28 — and a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, June 28.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and can be purchased online at curtainsuppagosa.org or at the door. Concessions benefiting CUP will be available before the show and during intermission.
CUP’s mission is to: “Nurture, educate, inspire, and strengthen Pagosa’s artists through the power of the performing arts, and to entertain our community by providing a superior theatrical experience.”
We only do so with the support of our community, which is sustained through generous sponsors and robust audiences.
So, come be entertained this weekend and be part of this magical show.
