CSU Extension welcomes new director

Posted

Hello, Archuleta County. My name is Cindi Galabota and I am your new Colorado State University (CSU) Extension director. I am very excited to serve our community in this role and look forward to getting to know you in my new position.

A little bit about me: I grew up in De Pere, Wis., a suburb of Green Bay. I fell in love with our natural world at a young age, having spent my summers at our family cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I attended Ohio Wesleyan University and have a BA in environmental studies and zoology. My husband, Scott, and I have lived in Colorado for 25 years, with the last 20 years in beautiful Pagosa Springs. Scott is a teacher at Pagosa Springs Elementary School and we feel very fortunate to be raising our two children here. Our oldest graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 2024 and is attending CSU in Fort Collins.

I have spent the past 20 years bringing critical resources, services and programs to the people who make the fabric of our community so special. I have built homes with Habitat for Humanity, helped finance new construction with a bank, supported our businesses through the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce and, most recently, raised funds for our small but incredible Ruby Sisson Library.

I am thrilled to continue to support the people of Archuleta County through CSU Extension. I have always known the importance of CSU Extension in our community, but I did not realize the extent of its support. In fact, for over 100 years, CSU Extension has helped people in Colorado find the answers they need for a healthy home life, successful business and thriving community.

The CSU Extension office in Archuleta County is located at the County Fairgrounds at 344 U.S. 84. We are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (we close for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.). Stop in and say hi to us!

Our staff includes Terry Schaaf, administrative assistant; Becky Jacobson, 4-H coordinator; and Tonya Steadmon, county fair coordinator.
