As the season of Lent draws to a close, we invite you to walk with us through Holy Week at Community United Methodist Church.
It’s a time set apart to reflect, pray and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.
We invite you to join us for the Maundy Thursday service in the sanctuary at 6 p.m. This meaningful worship experience commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus’ commandment to love and serve one another. All are welcome. Come as you are and share in this sacred time this Thursday, April 17, at 434 Lewis St.
On Good Friday, April 18, our sanctuary will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for self-guided prayer stations. These interactive spaces are designed to help you reflect on the final hours of Jesus’ life through scripture, silence, creativity and contemplation. Come and go as your schedule allows and experience a quiet, personal encounter with the story of the cross.
This year, Holy Saturday and Earth Day fall on the same day. This is a meaningful pairing for us, as we deeply value creation care.
As we sit in the stillness of the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, we also celebrate the gift of the earth. Join us at the local Earth Day Celebration on Saturday April 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m in Centennial Park, where we will offer a blessing of the earth as part of our preparation for Easter, and stop by our table for more information and fun crafts.
Finally, we invite you to celebrate the resurrection of Christ with us at either of our Easter Sunday worship services, at 8:15 a.m. or 11 a.m. Enjoy delicious treats between the services and fellowship in the foyer. Nursery care will be available, and children are warmly welcomed in the service.
This Holy Week, whether you’re a long-time member or a first-time visitor, we invite you to journey with us through the story of Christ, from the table, to the cross, to the empty tomb and into the promise of new life.
