Community Band preparing for free Fourth of July concert

Posted

The Pagosa Springs Instrumental Music Society (PSIMS) Community Band is preparing for the annual Fourth of July concert to be held at the new Hot Springs Resort lawn by the Wild Finch from 2 to 3 pm.

We will have one more rehearsal for this concert on Sunday, June 29, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the high school band room.

Our fearless conductor, Leo Baughman, also the high school band director, will lead us in some familiar patriotic songs accompanied by solo vocalist Diana Kelly.

PSIMS is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to bring music into the lives of the people of Pagosa Springs. Our motto is “Music for Life.” We believe that music enriches the lives of the audience as well as the performers.

We support music education in the community. This year, we are giving out three $1,000 scholarships to Pagosa Springs High School graduates continuing their music education at a higher level. Last year we were able to purchase a set of chimes for the high school.

Our performances are always free and we love to provide them for you. Donations go toward furthering music education in Pagosa Springs.
