Chip seal operations to continue east of Bayfield next week

Posted

On Monday, Aug. 26, crews will continue chip sealing on U.S. 160 starting approximately 7 miles east of Bayfield near Deer Valley (mile point 109) and move westbound throughout the week toward Bayfield.

Crews will be working in 2-mile sections a day, and motorists should plan for up to 20- to 30-minute delays between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Intermountain Slurry Seal anticipates having the highway resurfacing completed at Bayfield (mile post 102) on Friday. This past week, crews completed approximately 9 miles of chip seal operations east of Bayfield (mile post 118 to mile post 109).

Due to possible wet weather conditions, delays in operations may be possible.

  • The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph in the work zone.
  • Plan ahead and expect up to 20- to 30-minute delays.

Construction schedules could change depending on the weather.

Driving through chip seal projects

Travelers are urged to:

  • Slow down: Higher speeds can cause loose stones to scatter, and damage vehicle paint and windshields.
  • Increase distance between vehicles: Space between you and other vehicles will help reduce damage caused by loose stones.
  • Follow work zone signage: Use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
