The Archuleta County Public Health Department (ACPHD) is excited to announce upcoming opportunities for breast and cervical cancer screenings through the Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) program.
The WWC aims to increase early detection of these cancers, which significantly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates.
The WWC offers crucial services, including assistance from dedicated clinical nurses. These nurses help guide individuals through the process of receiving the appropriate tests, such as mammograms, Pap tests, and HPV tests, as well as any necessary follow-up care.
“When cancer is caught early, it’s easiest to treat and defeat,” emphasized ACPHD Executive Director Ashley Wilson. “In fact, nearly all women can survive breast and cervical cancer when it’s found early.”
The next clinic day providing these vital services is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, and the following for June 19. Please note limited appointments are available each month.
Eligible individuals can receive these screenings for free or at little cost. To learn more about the WWC program, eligibility criteria and to schedule an appointment for the May 15 or June 19 clinics, please call the ACPHD at (970) 264-2409.
Additional information about the WWC can also be found on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website at https://cdphe.colorado.gov/wwc.
