Special to The PREVIEW
Sunday Night Unplugged, a music and meditation service held the second Sunday of each month at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, is a highly anticipated respite from the day-to-day activities in our small town.
The service is designed to be a spiritual oasis, a time for reflection and peace, a time to regroup and meditate, and a time to listen to beautiful and peaceful music.
This Sunday, June 9, at 5 p.m., violinist Heidi Tanner will offer music by Handel, Debussy, Corelli, Caplet and Bach, along with one or two modern favorites to enhance the time of quiet beauty.
Heidi is an accomplished musician who came to Pagosa Springs with her family in 2006. She has regaled audiences with the sweet sounds of her violin on many occasions since that time.
Heidi is president of the board for the Pagosa Springs Community Band, is a member of the local Divertimento Quartet, and the Night Song Trio, and is a frequent solo performer at Sunday Night Unplugged. She has also been a member of the pit orchestra for numerous musical theater performances with the high school and Curtains Up Pagosa!
“Heidi is truly a Pagosa treasure,” said Fr. Doug Neel, rector of St. Patrick’s. “I don’t know if people realize how rare it is to have someone of her musical talent and skill residing in such a small community. If she were a professional concert violinist, something she is certainly qualified to be, she would be in a large city performing for sums of money we certainly could not afford. Fortunately for us, she is happy to be in Pagosa Springs with her family and offering her music as her gift. I always enjoy hearing her play and am delighted to have her back with us at Sunday Night Unplugged.”
Sunday Night Unplugged is a service that is free and open to the public.
St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church is located at 225 S. Pagosa Blvd.
