Unbelievable

Dear Editor:

What a leader. Obama is threatening another country with consequences. He told the Ukrainians “there will be consequences if people step over the line.” What he failed to say is that if they do, he’s going to shake his golf club at the them. He’d better be wearing his running shoes if he steps up to this (imaginary) line, however.

Of course whatever Obama says to his buddy Vladimir Putin about this latest outrage will never be revealed. And so much for Obama’s and Hillary’s “Restart” of better relations with Russia. But have no fear, Obama will probably send our new Secretary of State, John Kerry, to Kiev to put an end to this violence as he has in Syria and Egypt. Or failing that, Obama can always put into effect some “sanctions,” that is, if we haven’t used them all up with the Iranians — and which are so effective.

But whatever you do, Obama, don’t stand up to somebody and actually make good on a threat and please continue to use your new terminology for terrorists: the “folks” who are behaving badly. Unbelievable …

“What a leader…” Lead us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Lead us away from Syria and Ukraine. That is fine by me. There would be no circumstances worse than trying to help these geo-political graveyards out by invading them. What is “unbelievable” is that he can resist the war drums and innuendo of the Right to leave them be. A sanction here, a boycott there is just enough to invite ridicule. I’m glad he’ll take the political hit and not be made to do something we will all regret and pay for later. These are not Nazi Germany-like world altering, ideologically driven and powerful governments. Why do you want to whack-a-mole with a hammer all over the world? If it is unbelievable then you must offer a believable solution to the problem that does not include a hammer.
