Special to The PREVIEW

One by one, they land and one of the amazing Thingamajig Theatre Company volunteers picks them up. With bright faces and curious hearts, folks from all over the country arrive and assimilate into life in “the Pag” for a few weeks. Inevitably, upon their leaving date, they are devastated to have to depart from such an interesting and welcoming community. This winter is sure to be no different as Thingamajig welcomes a new cast for two amazing productions.

“The Night Cap Club,” an original cabaret conceived by Ryan Hazelbaker, is a brilliant mixture of new material presented by people the Pagosa Springs community already knows and loves.

An ode to the stars of MGM, the script is chock-full of names you recognize from your favorite classic films and the stage is graced with some of Thingamajig’s favorites. Audrey Layne Crocker (Judy Garland) and Taylor Marrs (Frank Sinatra) will sweep you away with a love story, leaving you dreaming about dancing “cheek to cheek.” Enter Gene Kelly (Samuel Damare) and, suddenly, the cloudy sky is a little brighter with the pitter patter of tapping feet and a hopeful heart singing, even in the rain. Rosemary Clooney (Heather McCall) warms Judy’s heart with friendship and an eager spirit, promising that she’ll be seeing her, old, familiar places and new.

Thingamajig is proud to present new work to the community of Pagosa, as well as bring stories we all know and love to the stage.

This winter, Thingamajig will also produce the biggest holiday show in its history.

Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” is everything you want in a musical and more. With impressive dancing and singing and, as always, beautiful storytelling, this is the perfect tale to remind us all what Christmas is about. Betty and Bob, Phil and Judy learn that fame and success are nice, but without your love by your side, it has just a little less shine.

Thingamajig is always passionate about presenting Pagosa with new, exciting opportunities to experience art, and this winter is a beautiful example of exactly that.

“The Night Cap Club” will not only have you singing along to some of the best music in the world, it will give Pagosa a look into what stardom is really like. From the sacrifices Garland made to the delight brought by success, the script is unafraid to shed light on the true picture.

“White Christmas” is a delight for the entire family, bringing a familiar story to new light in the fabulous setting of Pagosa Springs. This holiday season, there’s truly something for everyone.

“The Night Cap Club” will be performed Thanksgiving weekend only, Nov. 27-29. “White Christmas” opens Dec. 3 and continues through the end of the month.
