Season’s greetings from Thingamajig Theatre Company!

We’re currently celebrating our third season of compelling theatre and offering a very special holiday treat on stage with Roger Bean’s “Winter Wonderettes” playing through Dec. 29 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.

This fantastic musical features four of the finest female vocalists you’re likely to find outside of the Broadway stages and is truly a treat for the entire family to enjoy.

After viewing “Winter Wonderettes,” many of our patrons and local theatre enthusiasts have asked me, “How has the theatre achieved so much success in such a short amount of time?”

I’m proud to say that Pagosa audiences have exceeded my expectations and shown the theatre undying support that I only could have dreamed of when I moved my family here in 2010. While there are many factors that have contributed to Thingamajig’s rapid ascent in Colorado’s theatre world, it’s truly the community, its patrons, and their support both financially and vocally around town that has made the difference. Our actors and creative teams come from all parts of the country to produce art at Thingamajig and every one of them has expressed their gratitude for such a loving and supportive community.

Your support is important, but often times its difficult to know where your dollars or contributions have impact, so I thought I’d spell out just what your support of Thingamajig achieves.

Access to the arts

Your support helps make the productions affordable to our audiences. Without it, our ticket prices would be twice what they currently are. That would make them inaccessible to the majority of our audience. We are proud to offer ticket prices well below that state average for a product well above the state average.

Thingamajig Theatre Company is one of southwest Colorado’s premier cultural institutions. After only three years, we’re the second largest not-for-profit theatre company in the region. Thingamajig offers unsurpassed quality, range of and diversity of productions and programs, and a commitment to improving the quality of life in our community. Your support has helped us navigate the impossible task of only two people managing this enormous labor of love.

Production support

It’s all about the art. Thingamajig Theatre has been locally, regionally and nationally recognized for the quality of its productions, and is a creative home for artists from a wide range of backgrounds. From actors, audio and lighting to set pieces, your support directly impacts the quality of work you see on our stage and makes it possible. We had so much fun presenting the talent you saw on stage this past summer in “Spamalot,” “The Full Monty” and “Good People” and we are dedicated to presenting this standard of work year-round.

But, fundamentally, your support protects a gathering place for ideas. You give us the means to stage provocative new works and reinvigorate classics. You make it possible for the community to engage in complex conversations instead of simplistic sound bites. You create a space to debate the significant events in our world with your peers and, in doing so, challenge us to keep challenging you. You give us an opportunity to make you laugh and share this laughter with your fellow community members.

So, thank you, Pagosa Springs. Thank you for believing in The Thingamajig Theatre Company and sharing in the creation of a tremendous success and building community through the wonder of live theatre.

From all of us at Thingamajig, we wish you and your family a very safe and happy holiday season and we’ll see you at the theatre!
