Thingamajig Summer Season tickets on sale May 1

By Laura Moore
Special to The PREVIEW

Thingamajig Theatre has been collecting an impressive cast and crew from around the country to present their exciting 2013 Summer Season.

Award-winning Denver director Pat Payne is making the familiar trip down to Pagosa Springs (Payne directed Thingamajig’s “The Lion in Winter” and “A Steady Rain”) to direct the two musicals due to hit the Breaks Black Box stage at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts in June.

Following last summer’s critically acclaimed “Chicago” and the family favorite “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” Thingamajig is going even bigger this summer, claiming the notoriety to be the first in Colorado to produce the hot-off-of-Broadway Monty Python sensation “Spamalot.” The tale of Arthur and his knights will run in rep Wednesday-Sundays (with some Saturdays) from June 14 through Aug. 11 alongside the 2001 Tony Award-nominated “The Full Monty,” the story of six unemployed construction workers who decide to make a run at a buck as male strippers.

Beginning Aug. 16, Thingamajig offers audiences another regional premiere presenting “Good People,” a humor-laced drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire (“Rabbit Hole”).

A mixture of familiar regulars – Tim Moore (artistic director), Kurt Brighton (Henry in “Lion in Winter”), Hayley Hudson (“Chicago”), Sharina Ramsey (“Doubt,” “Chicago,” “Office Space the Musical”) as well as talented newcomers from around the country who can’t wait to spend the summer in the beautiful Colorado Mountains — are going to knock the socks off of theatregoers this summer.

With the sets designed by Arvada Center’s Mo Green, costumes and props secured directly from the original London production of “Spamalot,” and story lines to make ladies night out a must, Thingamajig Theatre’s 2013 Summer Season tickets are a steal. For only $64, patrons can view each of the three summer shows in the intimate Black Box Space for less than the cost of one seat at a Broadway show . . . in the last row … of the second balcony … behind the corner post.

Thingamajig season ticket holders are also invited to each of the three Champagne Openings on June 14, June 21 and Aug. 16, which means free food and drink and a talk back with the cast of the shows. When season ticket Holders come to the Champagne Opening, they receive a free ticket to come see the show again with a paying friend. Used to their fullest potential, season ticket Holders can save up to $120 this summer by becoming part of the Season Ticket Holder Family. Season ticket holders are also the only patrons who have the ability to purchase a reserved seat option. For only $10 per person, Summer Season ticket Holders can add this feature on their summer packet. This option is limited. Thingamajig 2013 Summer Season tickets go on sale May 1 and the sale ends June 13. All tickets can be purchased on the website at www.pagosacenter.org, by calling 731-7469 or by visiting the box office at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.

Please note that Thingamajig’s May show — “Hidden: Stories from the Dutch Resistance” — is the last show of the 2012-2013 Winter Season. Thingamajig also offers gift certificates for shows, which make great Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthday and anniversary presents.
