The Summer of Manly Men, at Thingamajig Theatre

By Tim Moore
Special to The PREVIEW

What an exciting summer season we have planned for you!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in our third summer at Thingamajig Theatre Company. Where has the time gone?

Around the theatre we’re referring to this season as, “The Summer of Manly Men” … and rabbits, cows, strippers and “Southies.”

Each show is a big Broadway favorite, staged a little differently, with a few surprises and twists along the way.

The season opens under the always sure-footed direction of Pat Payne with Monty Python’s beloved tale of King Arthur, searching for the Holy Grail.

“Monty Python’s Spamalot” will take you on an exhilarating thrill ride through England in this hilarious tale of Arthur and his hapless knights.

And while were in the UK, we’ll bring to life the South Yorkshire classic “The Full Monty.”  Adapted from the hit movie, “The Full Monty” musical is set, this time, in Buffalo, N.Y., and is brimming with great music, a hilarious story and … male strippers! This is a rare theatrical experience, not to be missed.

Finally, put on to your Red Sox caps as we transport you to the “Hawvad Yawd” with a salute to David Lindsay-Abaire’s masterpiece, “Good People.” A modern story of a man who’s made it out of South Boston and the woman who challenges him to face his humble beginnings, “Good People” is a humorous and poignant tale of the have and have-nots.

Wow, what a lineup!

The 2013 summer season is going to be a blast: the best entertainment bargain in our area.
