The grandeur of God

Special to The PREVIEW

The Grand Canyon is a reminder that God is grandeur in his creation.

Can you imagine the beautiful colorful nature God had in mind when he created the Grand Canyon? With all its tan, white and red layers, it has taken time to produce such a beautiful sight.

That’s how the aging process is. We have layers of hope built into us through the times in our lives we have depended on God. Also in the times we let go of God and he carried us through. Even through the times when we wandered down the wide path to destruction, God has seen to it that we ventured back into His path.

God has created us to withstand the ravages of time. Just like the Grand Canyon and all its lovely layers were designed through the ravages of time, we have become what God has planned for us when we were first conceived. We are also becoming what God has planned since the beginning of time.

Life takes us down many roads, just as there are many roads that lead into the Canyon. There are rocky routes, steep routes, but always, scenic routes. We see God in the nature of the Grand Canyon and cannot resist admiring God’s handiwork.

Just as God has used time to develop the Canyon, he has developed us. We wouldn’t learn if it wasn’t for the processes we go through to learn a lesson God has for us. Year after year he has been with us, guiding our steps, even when we thought we were in control. All those things happened to us to make us more beautiful in His sight.

We have layers and layers of instances when God was molding us to be just what he expects us to be. “ … who know but that you were born for just such a time as this,” as Mordecai said to Esther in the book of the Bible by the same name (Esther 4:14 paraphrased): In some instances God has given us the grace to live life to its fullest in the moment. In other instances he has made us wait patiently while he works his will through others’ actions as well as our own actions.

God is always waiting for the right time to bring us back to the reality that He is in charge of all we attempt. Always seeing His way clear to make a way for us to learn the lessons of life He has for us.

God gave us this beautiful land to admire and recognize Him in the midst of it all.

Don’t let life pass you by without recognizing God’s beautiful creation in the land he has developed. We see in the Bible, God’s own words, “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day” (Genesis 1:31) KJV. There is nothing wrong with being happy with your work. In this case, we should be happy with all that God has made. He is.

Please don’t let the ravages of time beat you up. We are a work in progress, just as the Grand Canyon is a work in progress. You will be just as beautiful to God in the end as in the beginning.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3:11) KJV.
