Special to The SUN
We are getting ready at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church for Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, Feb. 3, where the San Francisco 49ers will face the Baltimore Ravens in the final NFL game of the year.
Mountain Home and Security is providing a 90-inch screen for viewing the game, and Father Don Malin will host the half time show.
Ponderosa Home Lumber is letting us use their popcorn machine, so we will have stadium-style popcorn available. Our menu includes chili, bratwurst and regular hot dogs, soft drinks and a variety of homebaked goods.
Our youth ministry is hosting the event and proceeds will go to their planned trip to Tucson, Ariz., this summer.
Those who enjoy participating in football pools will have a chance to place their bets in multiple pools.
Tickets are only $5, and include one hot dog and a beverage. Even if your team didn’t make it, rooting for your Super Bowl favorite can be exciting.
Father Malin will host a special halftime show, as good as or better than last year’s show.
Festivities begin at 3 p.m. with Life Teen Mass and the Super Bowl Party begins at 4.
Call 731-5744 for reservations, or stop by the church at 353 South Pagosa Blvd. to purchase tickets. We look forward to seeing many football fans for a fun-filled afternoon and evening.
