Dear Editor:

After reading the article on the CDC asking for $100K for operating expenses of which $75K was for the director, not to mention another $18K for an office owned by one of the CDC members, I had to ask myself, how does one get appointed to this lucrative position?

My next thought was on the Historical Society and how they are so effective in running out of town anyone trying to stimulate the economy in downtown by their “conditions” on new business.

May I quote from John Wayne, “Life is hard, it’s even harder when you’re stupid.”

Editor’s note: It was the Historic Preservation Board that was involved in the Lewis Street/DeVore House situation, not the Historical Society. The San Juan Historical Society runs the local museum and had nothing to do with the development scenario.
