Special to The PREVIEW
The World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer.
It is an annual movement initiated and carried out by women in more than 170 countries and regions. This movement is symbolized by a worship celebration on the first Friday of March to which all people are welcome.
The goal is to bring together women of various races, cultures and traditions in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year. Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.
“Streams in the Desert” is this year’s worship theme, chosen by the women of Egypt — host country for the 2014 World Day of Prayer.
This service is sponsored by the Community United Methodist Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pope John Paul II, Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the Latter Day Saints Church.
Join us in the worship and luncheon on Friday, March 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Latter Day Saints Church, 1789 Majestic Drive, 731-2623.
Everyone is welcome. We ask you bring a salad to share.
