SJWCD discusses state water plan and Roundtable

During the San Juan Water Conservancy District’s regular board meeting on Aug. 11, Rod Proffitt reported on the state water plan and the Southwest Basin Roundtable.

The water plan is designed to ensure water planning for the future is secure and the future water needs of the citizens of Colorado are addressed. The state of Colorado has implemented roundtables, which represent the nine major river basins. Each basin is submitting basin implementation plans (BIP), which address problems, challenges and concerns of water conservation. Each basin has been ordered by the governor of Colorado to submit completed BIP’s by December 2015.
