Sheriff’s office to participate in Drug Take Back Day

The Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) will serve as a collection site for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 28.
The collection site will be at the ACSO, located at 449 San Juan St., and will accept prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications,” reads the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s website.
The following are items that can not be accepted as part of the take back program:
• Needles and sharps.
• Mercury (thermometers).
• Oxygen containers.
• Chemotherapy/radioactive substances.
• Pressurized canisters.
• Illicit drugs.
