On Friday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., we will be having our first “Picnic in the Park” for the summer. We will have live music. The menu will be barbecue chicken, grilled vegetables, potato salad, watermelon and a whole wheat roll. For seniors 60 and over, we have a suggested donation of $4. For children and other guests 59 and under, the meal fee is $10. Reservations are required at 264-2167. Please come and join us.
Defensive driver program
AARP — Smart Driver Program — Accredited Defensive Driver Program. You may be eligible for senior discounts on your auto insurance. The class will be held Thursday, June 19, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the dining room of the Pagosa Springs Senior Center. Cost: AARP members $15, nonmembers $20. Please call Lois O’Dell at 759-8282.
Medicare counseling will now be offered, by appointment only, every Wednesday at the Senior Center (in the community center).
If you are already on Medicare and need to review your plan (each year), we can help. If you are turning 65 this year and need help or have questions, we can help. If you are receiving Social Security disability benefits, you are probably eligible for Medicare and we can help.
You may be eligible for extra help if your income falls below a certain amount. Again, we can help.
Call to make an appointment by contacting the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging in Pagosa Springs. Our experienced and talented Medicare counselors are here to help and the service is free. Call 264-0502.

Did you know that the Pagosa Springs Senior Center has a fabulous salad bar? The salad bar is $6 for anyone under 60. If you are a senior (60 years and older), you are eligible for a hot meal, drink and our wonderful salad bar for only a $4 suggested donation. All meals include our awesome salad bar. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monday, June 23 — Smothered stuffed peppers, potato leek soup, Italian bread.

Wednesday, June 25 — Three choices of pizza: white, vegetarian and pepperoni.
Reservations and cancellations are required. You can make a reservation at 264-2167 by 9 a.m. the morning of the day you would like to dine in the Community Café at the Pagosa Springs Senior Center. For your convenience, you can make your reservations in advance or have a standing reservation on days you know you will always attend. Please cancel if you cannot attend on your standing reservation days.
