See you after the pole prayer meeting

By Ben Loper

Special to The PREVIEW

On the morning of Sept. 26, students around the United States will gather around their school’s flagpole to pray.

This time of prayer is student led and most often consists of prayer for the school’s faculty, students, our nation and more.

It is a time for students to unite together and start the year off right by asking God to be in control.

Here in Pagosa Springs, this event will begin 45 minutes before the first bell at each respective school.

On the evening of Sept. 26, starting at 7 p.m., there will be a community-wide prayer event held in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium.

This event is designed for people of all ages to come and join in a time of prayer and worship.

This not a pep rally for Christians. Instead, it is a time to humble ourselves, seek God, confess our sins and pray (1 Chronicles 7:14).

Please consider being a part of this day of prayer. There are desperate situations all around us, but let’s not give up hope. Jesus Christ loves us and He hears the prayer offered in faith: “For nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

The theme of this year’s See You At The Pole, is “Awaken.” May God awaken faith, hope and salvation in the lives of students, our community and our nation, once again.
